Our tour offers you a enjoyable day out in an unspoilt corner of the Bavarian countryside. Home to the Benedictine monks for over five hundred years this beautiful monastery clings to the old Monkish tradition of hospitality beer brewing which you can still enjoy to this day.
On the pleasurable train journey from Munich your expert guide will inform you about the history and daily life in a Benedictine monastery as well the rise and fall of the Counts of Andechs, the original owners of the land.
Once there you hike up an medieval pilgrims route and enjoy the views of the alps as you get to the top. Alternatively you can take a bus. At the monastery itself you can enjoy the spritual tranquility of the site while you explore the wonderful baroque church, visit the grave of the composer Carl Orff before relaxing in the bräustüberl/beer hall or the beautiful beer garden drinking the traditional beer and eating locally sourced food.
On the way down there is also an opportunity to cool off with a refreshing paddle or swim in the nearby lake Ammersee before coming home.
